Kerrville, TX Lifestyle Newborn Portraits
When you walk into a home that has been blessed with a newborn baby, it’s full of calm and peace and new baby sweetness! There are soft ohhhs and ahhhs and quiet exclamations over the child’s long fingers and tiny nose and gentle questioning about Mom’s sleep and recovery.
But not when it’s a third born blessing. When I arrived at their home, this Kerrville family greeted me with gusto! Big sister, big brother, and the overexcited dog came racing to the door when I arrived, barking (the dog) and chattering (the kids) loudly and excitedly about their cute new sister! That’s the thing about third born blessings. All the sweetness is still there, but there’s very little calm and peace. But there is great joy! And the baby quickly becomes a champ at handling noise and chaos and the smothering love of big siblings and family pets . . . in this case, the cat.
Yes, this is a candid photo. Nobody put the cat there. Nobody invited the cat there. The cat, believing herself to be the queen of the household, simply placed herself where all the family’s attention was focused. Surely she thought this tiny human was her new hot water bottle and was quite pleased. The baby didn’t mind the extra warmth and softness either.
The rest of her newborn session went far less eventfully, but still with much noise and joy. Baby Girl didn’t sleep, but as I tend to take more of a lifestyle approach to newborn portraits, that worked out just fine for us.
Who has seen these Snuggle Me Organic infant loungers? I just love them! So soft and cozy and in such fun colors! And add to that, they’re organic, so not made of GMO cotton and fewer toxins exposed to your tiny baby! They also look great in baby portraits!
Hmm, what are these things that keep moving about in front of my face?
Sleepy newborn yawns! So precious!
She even gave me some precious, goofy smiles! What an expression, kid!
Then it was time to get Big Sister and Big Brother involved!
“Smoosh up kids! Don’t smoosh the baby! Everybody look at me! Quit rolling your eyes! Hey, look at me! Don’t squish the baby! Stop rolling your eyes! Look at the camera and smile! Hey, whose feet smell worse? Mom’s or Dad’s?”
Yeah, I don’t really do great at posed photos. Oh, well. We all have different talents, lol. By the way, their mom gets the credit for those fabulous smiles in the final sibling shot. Way to go on letting your dignity go, Mom! Obviously they thought you were hilarious!
Are those Spider Man shoes not the perfect touch to this photo? It’ll be a forever reminder of how obsessed he was with Spider Man at this age!
Newborn smiles! Never have I seen so many smiles at a newborn shoot as this one!
And to finish off Baby Girl’s newborn portraits, we dressed her in the sweet little shawl her grandmother wore as a baby. What a treasure! And yes, she gave us one last smile to end the shoot. What an expressive baby she is!
Newborn sessions at home are one of my favorite things to photograph! Let me know if you’d like to book one for your own tiny blessing.
