At Home Newborn Portraits with an Austin TX Photographer

When I arrived for this Austin in-home newborn session, there was peaceful activity all around! Mom was resting in the rocking chair with Baby snoozing in the bassinet next to her. Dad was outside building a play set for his children from scratch. Big Sister was quietly playing with magnatiles at the table and Little Sister was happily popping in and out of the house, keeping an eye on everything that was going on.

Mom gestured to the baby, a small pile of tiny outfits, and told me to do my thing. That’s the way I like to roll! After a walk through the house to see where the best light was coming in on this overcast and drizzly day, I decided to start in the girls’ room. After I’d laid out Mom’s favorite swaddle blanket for the little guy to snuggle in, I transferred him into the rolling mini crib (what a great invention!) and rolled him through the house into the little girls’ bedroom with the sisters excitedly tagging along. And this tired boy just kept sleeping!

Time for an outfit and blanket change! This time he was snuggled up in his Moses basket, outside on the porch, as the rain lightly drizzled behind us. The little fellow had so many expressions for us!

The cold and rain increased, so back inside we went for a few more photos. That organic cotton, grey onesie had been passed down through both his sisters already and now was his. It went perfectly for the more neutral tones we had decided on, the mustard yellow swaddle blanket our one pop of rich color. I adore the simplicity of this little guy’s newborn baby portraits.

To finish up, we did some sweet photos of Mom and Dad with their new son.
