How to Get Your Little Boys to Cooperate for Family Portraits in Kerrville
How does a Kerrville photographer get pure, natural, joyful expressions from two little boys who don’t want to sit still and cooperate for family portraits?
Tell them to run towards each other as fast as they can for a hug!
Tell them to run circles around and around and around me and I’ll see if I can catch them with my camera!
Let them run some more, simply for the joy of running!
Introduce them to the fart app on my phone.
Don’t expect perfect expressions and just let them be who they are!
Tell them to say “stinky feet”! And “fart” and “poop” and “burp” and maybe teach them a few new words from the dictionary such as “flatulence” and “excrement”. Sorry, moms! I promise you, the temporary rudeness is so worth it (just look at the photo below for proof)! I do make sure to tell them that this is a special naughty occasion and the language we’re using is only appropriate during photos with Miss Naomi and will likely have consequences elsewhere.
Bottom line, let go of all your expectations. Let your kids play! Let them misbehave just a little! Let them fully enjoy the experience and watch the magic happen!
Would you love to see more photos of little boys having tons of fun during their Kerrville photo shoots? This young man had a blast getting covered in mud (and covering me and my camera in a mud) during his play-filled portrait session! And this little boy had so much fun climbing his grandma’s backyard apple tree to pick (and eat) fresh, home-grown apples!
