A Newborn Portrait of My Family’s Newest Baby

It’s a joyful time for my family as we welcomed my brother’s newest child last month! Having lost our father almost two years ago, this little one now bears his name. Our dad was a motorbike fanatic, a lover of world history, and had a penchant for flamboyant shirts. While I was preparing for my nephew’s newborn portraits, I wondered how I could honor his namesake and opened up Dad’s closet for inspiration. It hit immediately when I saw the row of colorful shirts still hanging there. When I mentioned my idea to Mum, she told me to go fetch his reading glasses and a book of his that she was currently reading, “Franklin and Winston”. Dad had great respect for Winston Churchill.

This photo is so silly it makes me laugh! But I love it because Dad would have been so proud of his newest grandson and I love seeing him wrapped up in one of his favorite shirts, sleeping peacefully on his book. The reading glasses are ridiculous, lol, but cute! This is my littlest nephew and I am smitten.
