Documenting a Child’s Love of Books in Fredericksburg, TX
She loved to read. In a household of fun and loving and noisy brothers, occasional quiet could be found in her room, lost in someone else’s imagination.
Years ago, I photographed her as a lively, opinionated three-year-old with her bright blue eyes, long ringlets, and a colorful, red coat that gave me visions of Little Red Riding Hood. Seven years later, we holed up in her room with some good books and a plan we worked out together to photograph her in her favorite past time.
Running around the garden with a toddler or preschooler, capturing movement and expression and personality is so fun and I love it! Planning out a series of photos with a more mature child, when the energy and emotions have tempered some, to document who they are and what they love at this age, is a whole other level of fun and just so cool to do!
She also loves to write. Mom had prepped each of the children to have a list of their favorite things to be photographed doing, so when I arrived, everyone was ready and excited! As I walked into the dining room, Sis was all set with her work area set up and ready for writing. One day, will another young girl be lost in this one’s imagination?
She is a beauty for sure, but even greater is her sweet heart and strong character. Mom and Dad are doing a fine job guiding and teaching their children, which I love to see in families!
